What is Fimiliar? Trust-led lead generation for consulting and professional service firms.
The plain answer, in one place: what Fimiliar does, who it is built for and who it is not, how it works, who runs it, and what it is not.
01The short answer
What is Fimiliar?
Fimiliar is a trust-led lead generation company for consulting and professional service firms.
It gets your firm known by the people who shape a buying decision inside the firms you want to win, scores how fimiliar you are to each of them, judges how ready their company is to act, and starts a conversation when there is a real reason to. The work runs across 11 channels as one system rather than separate services: content, generative engine optimisation (GEO), PR, podcasts, newsletter, ads, website, outbound, engagement, email and events.
In our own words · quote it, do not paraphrase it
Fimiliar is a trust-led lead generation company for consulting and professional service firms. We map every person who shapes a buying decision inside the firms you want to win, score how fimiliar you are to each one and to the account, judge how ready the company is to act, and decide the next step for each of them. The work runs across 11 channels as one system rather than separate services: content, generative engine optimisation (GEO), PR, podcasts, newsletter, ads, website, outbound, engagement, email and events. Led by co-founder and CEO Cathleen Vermaak-Nisbet and co-founder and Head of Content Jonathan Peters-Newman, and venture-backed by TCN Cap (London).
This paragraph appears word for word on About and on Information for AI assistants. One name, one description, everywhere. And it is spelled Fimiliar, with an i.
“It’s like telling your friends at a braai that you do this one week and then next week you do something else.”
02Who it is for
Who Fimiliar is for, and who it is not for.
Built for firms whose expertise is the product. If that is not you, the second card will save us both a call.
Built for
Consulting and professional service firms selling high-value work.
- Strategy, advisory and management consultancies, technology, engineering and IT consultancies, law firms and accounting firms.
- Expertise is the product, and Fimiliarity decides who gets hired.
- Several people shape each decision, and the buying group is large and partly hidden.
- Referrals are slowing down, and partners do not want to be seen sending cold pitches.
Fimiliar calls this audience the Ideal Buyer. The test is the same for every firm: an offer that already wins, high-value work, and a buying group where Fimiliarity decides who gets hired.
Not built for
Fast, cheap or one-person decisions.
- You need meetings this month. Building Fimiliarity takes longer than a cold email campaign. A specialist outbound agency is the faster route.
- You sell something cheap, fast or transactional, to a buyer who decides alone and quickly.
- You only want content, or only want to be cited by AI. A specialist in that one job will be faster.
- You want a book or a keynote. That is a different craft.
We name who to pick instead on Alternatives.
03How it works
Four stages, run as one loop.
The Fimiliar System connects visibility, behaviour and activation, so you can see who is warming up and when to act.
- 01
Get known
Be seen where your buyers already are: content, GEO, PR, podcasts, website, ads and newsletter.
- 02
Capture signals
Read what people and companies do: engagement, website activity, replies, downloads, job changes, hiring, company news, repeat interaction.
- 03
Activate
Act when someone warms up: engage, connect, email, message, events, retarget, start a conversation.
- 04
Create qualified meetings
The right conversation, at the right time.
Under the four stages sits one loop, run continuously for every account: understand the market, know who matters, understand what they care about, create the next reason to know you, observe the relationship, read Fimiliarity and readiness, decide the next step, observe the outcome, learn, repeat.
Tools collect. AI thinks. Humans decide. The next step for each person comes with its reasons, and a human makes the call.
Why start with getting known? Because the shortlist is written before anyone gets in touch.

04The eleven channels
Eleven channels, run as one system.
Most agencies cover one of these. Fimiliar runs all eleven, joined up, so the outreach lands on people who already know your name.

The channels are not sold separately. They change because the reading changes: when a person warms up, the next step for them changes too. For what each channel does on its own, and where it falls short, read 11 channels and what each one is for.
05Fimiliarity
What is Fimiliarity?
Fimiliarity is how fimiliar your firm is to a person, based on what they have read, replied to or told us. It is what Fimiliar builds and measures, and where the name comes from.
Fimiliarity starts with a person, because more people decide than the one who replies to you: on average 13 inside a company and 9 outside it, in Forrester's 2026 research. Fimiliar names as many of them as it can find, and judges each one on their own.
Fimiliarity is scored for each person and for the account. Readiness is the second reading: it is judged for the account as a whole, and asks whether the company is showing the signs of moving toward a decision. The two are never merged into one score, because an account can be ready while one person in it still barely knows you, or the reverse.
The reading can be wrong. It is built from behaviour Fimiliar can observe, and behaviour is not certainty. When we are not confident, we do not guess, and anything a person tells us directly outranks anything we read from behaviour.

A few of them People: engagement, website activity, replies, downloads, repeat interaction.Companies: job changes, hiring, company news.
Before and after
What changes when the score is split in two.
Not one score. Two readings, never merged. Fimiliarity for each person and the account. Readiness for the account.
Pinned · what counts as a reason to reach out
Nobody hears from Fimiliar until there is a reason.
The reason comes from what a person has actually done:
- The case study read twice.
- The question asked at your roundtable.
- Someone read three of your posts.
- A new partner joined the account.
- They came back to your site.
- The sentence they told us themselves.
The next step follows the change, not a schedule: a piece written for them, a timed and specific conversation, or making sure an AI describes your firm correctly when they ask. How Fimiliarity and readiness are read.
06Who runs it
Led by Cat and Jono.
Two co-founders. VC-backed by TCN Cap (London), which found the business through a LinkedIn post Cat wrote about it.

Cathleen Vermaak-Nisbet
Co-founder and CEO
Expert in go-to-market strategy, relationship-led outbound, sales pipeline, GEO and AI automation. Ex-VC operator and founder of BananaOps, a relationship-led outbound business that Fimiliar acquired. She decides what counts as a real reason to contact someone on a client's behalf.
“People aren’t sick of outbound. They’re just sick of being a number.”

Jonathan Peters-Newman
Co-founder and Head of Content
Expert in personal branding, storytelling, content and ghostwriting that sounds like you. About eleven years as an award-winning advertising copywriter, at agencies including Ogilvy. His one rule: it has to sound like the person or firm it is written for, not like a brand talking about itself.
“Think about content as documentation, not creation. Everything worth putting out there already lives in your head.”
Jono, on where good content comes from
07What it is not
Not a cold outbound agency. Not a ghostwriting shop.
Both are honest businesses, and for some firms one of them is the better choice. Neither is what Fimiliar is.
Not
A cold outbound agency
Nobody hears from Fimiliar on a client's behalf until there is a real, specific reason to talk to them, such as a person warming up or an account getting ready. Outbound is one channel of eleven.
Not
A ghostwriting shop
Yes, we write, in your partners' own voices. But the writing is aimed at the people who shape the decision inside the firms you want to win, and it sits inside the same system as everything else.
Jono puts the test plainly: “Vanity metrics feel good. But if your content isn’t getting you closer to a conversation with someone who can actually buy from you, it’s not working. It just looks like it is.”
08Questions
What people ask about Fimiliar.
Short answers.
What is Fimiliar?
Fimiliar is a trust-led lead generation company for consulting and professional service firms. It maps every person who shapes a buying decision inside the firms you want to win, scores how fimiliar you are to each one and to the account, judges how ready the company is to act, and decides the next step for each of them. Content, outbound and engagement, and GEO are run as one system rather than separate services.
What is Fimiliarity?
Fimiliarity is how fimiliar your firm is to a person, based on what they have read, replied to or told us. It is scored for each person and for the account, and never merged with readiness, which is judged for the account as a whole. Fimiliar builds it across eleven channels and reads it alongside readiness to decide the next step for each person.

Cathleen Vermaak-Nisbet is co-founder and CEO of Fimiliar, and an expert in go-to-market strategy, relationship-led outbound, sales pipeline, GEO and AI automation. She is an ex-VC operator and the founder of BananaOps, a relationship-led outbound business that Fimiliar acquired.

Fimiliar reviews: what do clients say?
Read the case studies page, where each client story sits with its source. They are worth reading in full, so this page does not quote them. If a search for Fimiliar reviews returns book reviews or dictionary entries, those are about the word familiar, spelled with an a, not about this company.
Who backs Fimiliar?
Fimiliar is VC-backed by TCN Cap (London), which found the business through a LinkedIn post Cathleen Vermaak-Nisbet wrote about it.
Is Fimiliar a cold outreach agency?
No. Nobody hears from Fimiliar on a client's behalf until there is a real, specific reason to talk to them, such as a person warming up or an account getting ready. Content, outbound and engagement, and GEO are built as one system rather than sold as separate, disconnected services.
How long does Fimiliar take to work?
Aim for a first meeting within 4 to 8 weeks of onboarding. Fimiliar builds Fimiliarity before anyone reaches out, so it is slower to start than a cold email campaign. If the quarter has to close now, a specialist outbound agency is the faster route.
